CorteX Tuition Manager – System Guide
Complete guide to managing your tuition institute with CorteX. Learn how to register students, print ID cards, mark QR attendance, collect fees, and set up the Parent Portal.
1. Overview
CorteX Tuition Manager transforms your WordPress site into a complete educational management system. It replaces physical attendance registers and fee cards with a digital, cloud-ready solution.
- Role-based Access: Owners have full control; Staff can only mark attendance/fees.
- Paperless: SMS replaces paper receipts.
- Hardware Support: Works with standard Webcams (for QR scanning) and Thermal Printers.
2. Installation
- Go to Plugins → Add New in your WordPress dashboard.
- Click Upload Plugin and select
cortex-tuition-manager.zip. - Activate the plugin. You will see a new menu item: Tuition Manager.
3. Initial Setup
Before registering students, configure the core settings.
Institute Details
Go to Settings → General. Enter your Institute Name, Address, and upload the Logo (used for ID cards and Receipts).
SMS Configuration
Go to Settings → SMS. Enter your Notify.lk User ID & API Key. Enable the "Send Attendance SMS" and "Send Payment SMS" toggles.
Create Classes
Go to Classes → Add New. Create classes like "Grade 11 - Maths" and set the Monthly Fee.
4. Manage Students
To register a new student:
- Navigate to Students → Add New.
- Enter Name, School, Grade, and Parent's WhatsApp Number (crucial for SMS).
- Select the Classes (subjects) they are enrolling in.
- Click Register. The system will auto-generate a Reg No (e.g.,
STU-2025-001).
5. ID Cards & QR
Once a student is registered, you can print their Smart ID Card instantly.
6. Attendance (Kiosk Mode)
This is the screen your staff will use at the door.
- Go to Tuition Manager → Kiosk.
- Scan QR: Use a barcode scanner or webcam to scan the student's ID card.
- Instant Status: The screen will immediately show PAID or FEES DUE for the current month.
- Auto SMS: If enabled, the parent receives: "Your child [Name] has arrived at class at [Time]."
7. Fee Payments
Handling monthly fees is fast and simple.
- Go to Payments. Search for the student by Name or Reg No.
- Select the Month (e.g., "December 2025") and the Class.
- The system shows the Amount Due. Enter the Paid Amount (supports partial payments).
- Click Collect Fee.
A thermal receipt is generated, and an SMS is sent: "Payment of Rs. 2500 received for [Month]. Balance: 0."
8. Parent Portal setup
Allow parents to check attendance and payment history from home.

Create a new page in WordPress (e.g., "My Child"), paste the shortcode above, and publish. Parents can login using the Student Reg No and Mobile Number.
9. Reports
Use the Reports tab to get insights:
- Daily Attendance Log: View exactly who attended today. Export to CSV for records.
- Monthly Income: Total fees collected vs. pending arrears per class.
